Dortmund Confirm Aubameyang's Arsenal Move

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed they have agreed a fee with Arsenal over the sale of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, in what is reported to be a £60m move. Arsene Wenger had earlier admitted to being delighted at being close to signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. “Yes, it's good news,” Wenger said. “We need people who can give us more offensive power – at the moment we are not efficient enough going forward and I'm convinced he will bring us that. Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc couldn’t resist a parting shot at Aubameyang: “Apart from the unpleasant episodes in the past few weeks we would like to remember that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at BVB was a real success story." The 28-year-old has been at Dortmund since 2013 and has scored 141 goals for the club.

Top 10 Hilarious Names Of Nigerian Churches ( Photos)

In all times religion has been considered to be a delicate and sensitive issue. Wars were fought in the name of God? Many discussions or hopeless quarrels have broken out among groups and individuals around the world. But now in the 21st century in the world of democracy and total tolerance, you can believe in any god or religion you want or can find. In Nigeria, there are various churches you can choose to attend and some of them are truly unique. You will not be able to find any kind of judgment or mockery reading this. We all remember that each of us has the right to believe and do everything he thinks is right. In the basic 10 principles of public (international) law, it is called the right for freedom of speech and religion. That is probably why we have found so many churches in Nigeria which, to put it mildly, are not formatted. Frankly speaking, there are lots of hilarious names of churches in Nigeria. Of course, we cannot overview all of them, but let`s say top 10 funny names

Emirates crew beat, tied up 71-year-old Nigerian for eight hours for sitting in wrong seat

A 71-year-old Nigerian grandpa, David Ukesone, has recounted a raw deal that he had from the crew of Emirates airline while flying from Dubai to Chicago. He was punched in the face, his mouth taped and bound like a prisoner for eight hours on his trip to reunite with his family. His offence was that he got into a dispute with the flight attendants over his seat number. And then, as Mail Online reported, matters escalated. Ukesone said he hadn’t been on a plane in over 35 years. ‘He apparently sits in the wrong seat and was told to change seats by a flight attendant,’ attorney Howard Schaffner told ABC News. ‘He didn’t think he was in the wrong seat and there was an argument and, at some point, he was hit.’ Emirates Airlines, in a statement released Monday, confirmed the incident. ‘Emirates can confirm that a passenger on flight EK235 from Dubai to Chicago on 23 January had to be restrained by cabin crew due to unruly behavior during the flight. The passenger was handed over to the a

Nigerian man, Okeke, buys Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Bugatti for $2.5m

A Nigerian man, Obi Okeke, popularly referred to as Doctor Bugatti, has purchased Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Bugatti Veyron for $2.5m. According to TMZ, the Bugatti dealer has intentions to resell the vehicle. The Bugatti Veyron 2015 model goes 0-60 mph in 2.5 secs and has only had about 1,000 miles on it. Okeke was the one who sold a similar whip to heavyweight champion, Floyd Mayweather, and he seems to be on the lookout for a buyer for his new ride. “When you’re in the business for as long as I’ve been, you meet a lot of people,” Okeke said in 2015, according to the Business Insider. “When I came here, people knew about me. I’ve been very fortunate to build a deep client database for finding cars.” Mayweather had purchased at least 40 cars from Okeke, including Koenigsegg CCXR Triveta for $4.8m, the Business Insider said in 2015

My govt will no longer tolerate killing, kidnapping —Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday warned that his government would no longer tolerate wanton killings and kidnapping by hoodlums. President Buhari also vowed that those involved in the murder of innocent persons would be made to face the wrath of the law. He explained that the rise in the level of violent crimes across Nigeria was having a negative impact on national development. The President, who spoke in Port Harcourt while declaring open the 9th General Assembly of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, said he was saddened by the killings in Nigeria. The theme of the event is, ‘Community policing as a catalyst to crime prevention: The role of traditional rulers.’ Represented by the Minister of Interior, Abduraham Dambazau, the President said, “I have therefore directed that no effort should be spared in identifying and bringing to justice all those that are carrying out the acts. I have therefore directed the Chief of Army Staff to relocate to the North East

Aubameyang booed by Dortmund fans

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was jeered by his own fans and told he can leave Borussia Dortmund if Arsenal meet the asking price, the German club’s director of sport Michael Zorc confirmed on Saturday. Having been dropped for the last two matches, Aubameyang made his first start for a month in Dortmund’s 2-2 Bundesliga draw at home to Freiburg on Saturday. He headed over the bar in the first-half with his single effort of the game in a poor performance. Aubameyang was booed by home fans for each of his 19 touches of the ball while fans made their discontent clear. “No player is bigger than our club,” said a banner unfurled by angry Dortmund supporters. Dortmund have reportedly rejected a second bid by Arsenal of 58 million euros ($72m) with the German club thought to be holding out for 70 million euros for their top-scorer. “We know that Aubameyang wants to leave,” said Zorc. “We must not forget that he is already in his fifth year in Dortmund. “We have made it clear that we are r

Record-breaker Cavani says he can work with Neymar

Edinson Cavani insisted that he is happy playing with Neymar at Paris Saint-Germain, after the Uruguayan broke the club’s goalscoring record and his strike partner netted twice against Montpellier on Saturday. The 30-year-old is PSG’s top scorer this term with one more goal than world-record signing Neymar, who returned to the team for the first time since being booed after taking a penalty that could have given Cavani the record in an 8-0 thrashing of Dijon on January 17. But Cavani gave Neymar the ball to take a spot-kick in Paris on Saturday, and also set up the Brazilian to score his second late on and complete a 4-0 rout. “He (Neymar) has done a lot and is doing a lot for the team,” Cavani told Canal+, after Neymar’s first appearance since scoring four goals against Dijon. “We have to stay together. The most important thing is that the team works, we have important goals (for the season).” Cavani broke Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s all-time PSG record by tapping in his 157th goal for

Billionaire businessman denies funding Obasanjo’s coalition

Billionaire businessman and founder of Aiteo Group, Mr. Benedict Peters, has denied social media reports that he is funding the new coalition reportedly being headed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Peters said this in a statement on Friday night. He said, “For the record, I wish to state, categorically and unequivocally, that I am not a financier of the said organisation or any socio-political partisan association or political party in Nigeria or anywhere else in the world. “As an international businessman of repute, I have deliberately stayed away from politics preferring, instead, to focus and give my all to the development of my business interests across the African continent. “Corporate Social Responsibility contributions has seen the Aiteo Group, which I lead, provide investment support in medicine and medical research dedicated to seeking cures for several ailments which affect the African continent as well as investment in sport and sport as a panacea for the develop

La Liga: Ronaldo leads Real Madrid to Valencia victory

Cristiano Ronaldo converted two penalties as Real Madrid battled to a 4-1 away win at Valencia in La Liga on Saturday, lifting the recent gloom over the defending Spanish and European champions. The result leaves Madrid 16 points behind top placed Barcelona on 54, Atletico Madrid are second on 43, Valencia third on 40 with Real another two back. Real manager Zinedine Zidane was able to field his favoured forward line of Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema for the first time in 279 days. This was no walk in the park for Zidane’s men who had to fight until two late strikes from Marcelo and then Toni Kroos relieved the tension. On a sunny afternoon at an animated Mestalla stadium with it’s impeccable turf and rowdy Curva Nord stand, Valencia, a club back on their feet after a decade of turmoil, had only lost once at home this season and gained a 2-2 draw at the Bernabeu in August. Valencia’s fast, confident, counter-attacking bamboozled Madrid defenders Raphael Varane and Nacho f

Fitbit to end Pebble smartwatch support soon

Today is an unfortunate day for those who were looking to prolong the use of their Pebble smartwatch. The parent company, Fitbit, announced that it will be ending its support for the smartwatch on June 30, 2018.  The company states: "During this time, we invite the Pebble community to explore how familiar highlights from the Pebble ecosystem are evolving on the Fitbit platform, from apps and clock faces to features and experiences," Fitbit’s words are upbeat. However, the company is likely hoping that diehard Pebble fans will eventually convert over to the Fitbit ecosystem of products. But for those who want to continue to use their Pebble smartwatches after June 30, they will continue to work but the following features will be axed: the Pebble app store, the Pebble forum, voice recognition features, SMS and email replies, timeline pins from third-party apps (although calendar pins will still function), and the CloudPebble development tool. Fitbit purchased Pebble in late

Done Deal: Sanchez - Mkhitaryan swap done

The Chilean has left Arsenal for Old Trafford, with the former Borussia Dortmund star heading to the Emirates as part of the deal. Manchester United have completed the transfer of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan joining the Gunners in return. The Chile international looked destined for Manchester City until recently, with the Sky Blues appearing set to wrap up a move for around £20m having originally agreed a £60m fee with Arsenal last summer. But United stole in with a late approach to secure the signing of Sanchez, who is set to earn a Premier League record of around £350,000 a week on a four-and-a-half-year deal having allowed his Arsenal contract to run down to its final six months. The arrival of Sanchez will be considered a real coup by United after the player had come so close to signing with rivals City, who finally pulled the plug on their own interest in the 29-year-old on Sunday. Sanchez spent three-and-a-half years at Arsenal, having arrived at the

Croatia Bedtime Stories Feature Same-Sex Families for First Time

Aide: Buhari’ll consider his health before deciding on second term

President Muhammadu Buhari will consider his state of health before taking the decision on whether to seek re-election in 2019 or not, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, stated in an interview on Sunday. Buhari had a serious health challenge in 2017 that made him to seek medical attention outside the country twice. On his return to the country after his first medical trip, the President stated that he had never been that sick in his life. While answering questions on Buhari’s health status and his seeking re-election in 2019, Adesina said the President would not do whatever he believed his health could not sustain. Adesina said, “The President is not a frivolous person. If he thinks that his health cannot carry anything, he will not do it. “Every day you see the President, you see a glow about him and you see freshness about him. I think he is even in a better state than when he came in 2015. It’s all to the glory of God. “Once he assesses that his hea

Dalung motivated Eagles to beat Libya –Dikko

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, was the motivating factor behind the Super Eagles’ 1-0 victory over Libya on Friday at the ongoing Morocco 2018 African Nations Championship, Nigeria Football Federation 2nd vice president Shehu Dikko has stated. Dikko told thenff.com that Dalung actually swung the game Nigeria’s way hours before the Group C kick-off, when he approved that the players be paid the full bonus for the drawn opening match against Rwanda, if they earned the maximum points against 2014 champions Libya. “The minister should get the credit for the victory because his approval for the team to be paid full bonus for the Rwanda game if they defeated Libya meant the players went all out, knowing they would be getting two full bonuses with a win. “The approval was simply to restore the 50 per cent the team lost for the draw against Rwanda,” Dikko said. On Tuesday, the Eagles have the opportunity of going for a third full bonus when they take on debu

Fuel queues return to Lagos, Ogun …NNPC blames hitch on vessels berthing

Long queues of desperate motorists and other users of Premium Motor Spirit returned to many filling stations in Lagos and Ogun states on Saturday and Sunday after a brief relief from the severe scarcity of the product that rocked the country from December to early this month. Many of the stations in the two states were shut on Sunday, while some of the ones that dispensed the product sold above the official pump price of N145 per litre. Some filling stations in Ikotun, Ejigbo, Isolo, Idimu, and Igando areas of Lagos, and Akute in Lagos, were selling at between N160 and N180 per litre, while others only sold to motorcycle riders and other petrol seekers with jerry cans, who were charged at least N200 extra by petrol attendants. Black market operators were having a field day as they sold the product for as much as N250 per litre on Sunday. On the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, outbound Lagos, the queues of motorists at some of the few stations that sold the product spilled onto the road,

Inside Britain’s worst prison

Inmates are being held in the worst conditions ever seen in a British jail, a damning report by dailymail reveals. Some convicts were forced to live in damp cells that should be ‘condemned’, with exposed electrical wiring, broken windows and filthy, leaking lavatories. In one of the most scathing reports ever, HM Inspectorate of Prisons criticised the ‘abject failure’ to make HMP Liverpool safe. Meanwhile, Chief Inspector of Prisons Peter Clarke used new powers to demand ministers step in to improve a ‘fundamentally unsafe’ jail. He issued an ‘urgent notification’ for the first time, requiring the Justice Secretary to make an action plan to tackle ‘serious failures’ at Victorian-era HMP Nottingham. The category-B jail, which has a capacity of 1,060, has been rated ‘poor’ for safety – the lowest level – three times in four years. Mr Clarke said failure to act would cost lives, blaming the problems on a failure of leadership. The reports laid bare the crisis engulfing jails as se

Gunmen abduct five oil workers in Niger Delta

Five oil workers have been kidnapped in Nigeria’s restive southern Niger Delta region, an area regularly hit by militant attacks and abductions, police told AFP on Friday. Suspected militants seized the workers on Wednesday near the Ajoki community, which borders Edo and Delta States, said Delta State police spokesperson, Andrew Aniamaka. “The police in partnership with the military are working to ensure that the victims are rescued unhurt with the perpetrators arrested and brought to book,” Aniamaka said. The workers are employees of Sahara Energy Oil Company, a Nigerian energy firm. “The oil workers were in a boat en route to an offshore location when the gunmen arrived,” said local resident Ajugu Fidelis, who witnessed the abductions. “(They) stormed the waterside and ordered the workers into their boat amidst gunshots and sped off to an unknown location.” The incident happened a few hours after the Niger Delta Avengers, a rebel group known to attack oil pipelines, issued a s

Van Persie set for Feyenoord return

Netherlands’ record goalscorer Robin van Persie will complete a deal to join Feyenoord from Turkish side Fenerbahce next week, the Rotterdam club announced Friday. “Robin van Persie will sign a contract with Feyenoord on Monday,” the Dutch club said in a statement, signalling the striker’s return to his boyhood stomping ground. “Nothing stands in the way of a return from the 102-fold international to De Kuip,” Feyenoord said, adding the 34-year-old former Arsenal captain “reached an agreement with current club Fenerbahce about the dissolution of his contract”. The ex-Manchester United player was also recalled to the Dutch national team in August, even though he had not donned the national jersey since 2015. Van Persie’s return is seen as an effort to strengthen Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s faltering Eredivisie champions, who have slipped to fifth in the table this season. Van Persie remains the country’s top all-time scorer with 50 goals. He made his debut for Feyenoord in 2002, b

Why some couples avoid sex during pregnancy —Study

One in six couples abstains from having sex during the entire nine months of pregnancy, a survey has revealed. Couples tend to fall into two camps when it comes to getting intimate during pregnancy. For some, their sex life continues entirely as normal right up until they give birth. But for others, sex is put on the no-go list the minute two blue lines appear on the pregnancy test. And a new survey by Channel Mum has revealed that the number of parents refraining from sexual intimacy is higher than you might think. The parenting channel quizzed 2,000 parents and found that many couples were avoiding sex during pregnancy out of concern that they might ‘hurt’ the baby. A further one in 10 felt it was just plain wrong to have sex while a baby is on the way — which, when you think about it, is slightly bonkers, considering how the baby likely got there in the first place. How far along the mum-to-be was in her pregnancy also seems to have an impact on how much sex couples are havin

[Photos] Meet world’s youngest tenant who pays rent at age five!

How does it sound when you hear that a five-year-old baby who should, ordinarily, spend her allowances on ice cream, candies, etc., is made to use her money to rather pay rent? Well, that is what a fashionable but no-nonsense mum does — she makes her underage daughter pay rent from what we might even call a “paltry” allowance! Essence Evans set the cyberspace agog with a simple social media post in which she claims that she makes her baby girl —a five-year-old — to pay rent. Essence, who is a singer and Yoga fan, explains that every week, the baby girl gets $7 in allowance. Essence Evans. But, lest the little girl runs away with an erroneous impression that one is free to do anything one wants with any money that comes into his/her possession, the dutiful mum explains to her daughter that in real world, most people spend most of their earnings on bills, with little to spend on themselves. To drive the lesson home, Essence explains that she makes her daughter give her $5 back. Br

Facebook selfie showing murder weapon helps convict killer

A Canadian woman has been convicted of killing her friend after police discovered the murder weapon used in a picture of the pair on social media. Cheyenne Rose Antoine, 21, pleaded guilty on Monday to killing Brittney Gargol, 18, in Canada two years ago. Ms Gargol was found strangled to death near a landfill in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with Antoine's belt near her body. Antoine was sentenced to seven years for manslaughter. She was identified as a suspect after she posted a selfie on Facebook of the two of them, showing her wearing the belt hours before Ms Gargol died. Antoine, who was initially charged with second-degree murder, showed up at another friend's house hysterical the night of the murder and confessed to hitting Ms Gargol and strangling her, CBC reported from court. She said they had got drunk and into a heated argument.
