When will President Buhari be considered incapacitated?

AT the homestretch of the 2015 presidential election, the Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election campaign team challenged then candidate Muhammadu Buhari to a sport contest. When the gauntlet was left unpicked, the team in a follow up, set the internet abuzz with the juxtaposition of the pictures of President Jonathan and members of  his Federal Executive Council jogging and that of not-too-good- looking candidate Buhari. The challenge which came on the heels of simmering conjectures on the health condition of candidate Buhari was aimed at passing one message which is: President Jonathan is healthier than candidate Buhari to carry out the duties of the office of president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. But was “health” given a premium in the election?  The vuvuzelas of the opposition party was so fortissimo that not even the yawping of Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state could be heard. They rally-cried “Nigeria sai changi” and people responded with “Sai Buhari” and thus turned a blind eye…

Tunisia bans Wonder Woman after al-Chaab complaint

A court in Tunisia has banned Wonder Woman, a US film starring a former soldier with the Israeli army, more than a month after it was scheduled to open at cinemas, a legal source said. The film was due to be screened at two venues in Tunis in early June, but the showings were "suspended" following a complaint from the nationalist al-Chaab party. The court finally decided to impose the ban last Friday, prosecution spokesman Sofiene Sliti said. The verdict was only disclosed to the media this week without a reason given for the judgement. Al-Chaab demanded the film be banned in Tunisia because Gadot had defended Israel's 2014 war on the Palestinian enclave of Gaza on Facebook.

Cricket World Cup: Inspired India Down the Aussies

India won by 36 runsIndia - 281/4(Harmanpreeth 171; Villaini 1-19)
Australia - 245 (Villaini 75, Blackwell 90; Goswami 2-26)Mithali Raj's troops aced the defending champions with a sumptuous performance to enter the finals of the World Cup 2017.Rain delayed the start of the 2nd semi-final and by the time the weather cleared, the match had to be reduced to 42 overs per side.Harmanpreeth Kaur produced the innings of a lifetime to help India to a huge total of 281/4 in 42 overs. Opting to bat, India made a mediocre start, losing both their openers in the powerplay. Captain Mithali Raj and Harmanpreeth then stabilised the innings with a 66-run partnership. Mithali was castled by leggie Beams in the 25th over and at that stage, it looked like India would struggle to reach the 200-mark. However, Harmanpreeth took the game by the scruff of the neck and shocked the Aussies. She reached her century by pushing her reluctant partner for a double after dabbing the ball to midwicket. Nigeria total debt rose by N4.76tn in 2016 - DMO

Nigeria total debt rose by N4.76tn in 2016, the Debt Management Office has disclosed. The DMO disclosed this in its 2016 Annual Report and Statement of Accounts obtained by our correspondent in Abuja on Wednesday.According to the office, Nigeria’s debt as of December 2016 stood at N17.36tn, up from N12.6tn a year earlier. This reflects an increase of N4.76tn or 37.74 per cent within a period of one year. The significant increase, according to the DMO, is mainly in the domestic debt component and is attributable to the additional issuance of debt securities to fund the 2016 budget deficit and the refinancing and redemption of matured securities. The DMO explained that the increase in borrowing could be looked at from the deficits contained in both the 2015 and 2016 budgets in relation to the Gross Domestic Product.

This is what life is all about

Immediately we start it,
We don't know what is going on again
We get lost in unknown realm
We never know if we gonna come back
Out of the many that started
Only few won and came back
It is a journey everyone must embark on
It is something that helps our sound mind
Some are even scared to start
Because of the fear of not winning
And coming back
But its still what we must do.
Cognisance of the environment is no more taken note of
The unknown spirit are awake and agile this time
They wander because they know no one would see them
We are all on a risk race
Everyone has started the race and who is gonna win?
No one knows
The winner isn't one person but the graced people
We all sleep and wake up with us still where we started without any problem
We are the graced ones and we are the winners
The race will start again by night
No one knows who will lose nor win but
We know we are alive this very moment
Live this moment and be good.
Take it in your stride...Good morning the graced one…

Trump said, "We are going to have a good relationship with Qatar and not going to have a problem with the military base. The days of us paying for things are largely over."During the two-day visit, Trump also signed an arms deal with Saudi Arabia worth almost $110bn.

Free speech group sues US President Donald Trump for blocking twitter users

A free speech group on Tuesday sued US President Donald Trump for blocking Twitterusers from his @realDonaldTrump account, arguing the practice violates the First Amendment of the US Constitution. The lawsuit, brought by the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University in New York and joined by seven individual Twitter users, claims Trump blocked a number of accounts whose owners replied to his tweets with comments that criticised, mocked or disagreed with the president.Trump's blocking of the accounts amounted to an unconstitutional effort to suppress dissent, according to the lawsuit filed in federal court in the Southern District of New York. Because Trump frequently turns to Twitter to make policy statements, his account qualifies as a public forum from which the government cannot exclude people on the basis of their views, according to the lawsuit.

My preference is to remain at Arsenal, says Ozil

Mesut Özil says that his preference would “definitely” be to sign a new contract at Arsenal. The midfielder has entered the final 12 months of his £140,000-a-week deal and, in the absence of offers from any of the European clubs who could meet his wage demands, he is set to stay at Emirates Stadium for the upcoming season. The bigger issue has been whether Özil will re-sign at the club he joined from Real Madrid for £42.5m in 2013, with one of his options being to wait until January 2018 to see whether he gets a lucrative pre-contract offer from an overseas club relating to a free agent move in the summer.
Arsenal, though, have worked hard to put forward an attractive deal of their own, which is worth a basic £280,000 a week. So far it has been a waiting game, with Özil keen to keep his options open as he moves into the new season.“It is definitely my preference to stay,” Özil said, at Arsenal’s launch of their new third kit in Sydney. “It is such a great club and I have always said tha…

Android has hidden a 'panic detection mode' designed to protect users from rogue apps

Android is a pretty secure OS for the most part which Google is constantly working to make more secure, but it still faces issues with malware. In the background, Google has quietly introduced a "panic mode" that helps protect users from situations like these. The idea behind "panic mode" is to provide the user a guaranteed way to get out of any rogue application and bring them back to the homescreen. When Android detects that, it overrides whatever application is open and causing the problem, delivering the user to their homescreen where they can uninstall the rogue app. It seems likely that, for now, Google hasn't finished this application and plans to enable it by default in future versions of the OS.
